Great Writing, My Pretty!
Feeling inspired by our trip to see Wicked, the children used The Wizard of Oz for inspiration in their most recent piece of writing. Today, we watched a scene between Dorothy, Glinda and The Wicked Witch of the West. After finding out her sister was killed by Dorothy’s house, the Wicked Witch was angry and seeked retribution…and that wasn’t the only thing she was after! Glinda ensured that Dorothy was wearing the ruby-red slippers, preventing the Wicked Witch from taking them from her dead sister.
After watching the scene, the children were required to write a descriptive paragraph between these three characters and ONLY using dialogue to move the action on or to reveal how a character might be feeling. The children did an incredible job and the lesson seemed to whizz by in a wave of a wand!
Well done, Year 4. Some truly magical writing!
