Hello Southill Families!

Snow Day!
Wasn’t the snow exciting? While we adults might worry about navigating the slippery roads and pavements, it was truly heartwarming to see the joy on the children’s faces as the snowflakes got heavier throughout the day. And a big well done to everyone for still managing to look super smart for school photos!

UK Parliament Week
This week marked UK Parliament Week. I introduced it during assembly and Andrea has taken the lead to start our very own Southill Primary Parliament. Class representatives have been elected and I promise to share more details soon.

Writing Competition
On Monday, I had the pleasure of announcing the winners and runners-up of our first writing competition. I was thrilled by the number of entries and enjoyed reading all the imaginative stories. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Look out for our next competition starting next week…

Year 3’s Neolithic Adventure
Year 3 had a fantastic time visiting Stonehenge on Wednesday. A big shoutout to the children for showing resilience in the cold and for their excellent behaviour. Special thanks to Andrea and Laura for organising such a fabulous experience.

Stormbreak Focus
This week, our Stormbreak focus was self-care. Ask your child what they’ve learned about it and maybe you can practise some self-care together at home.

Christmas Fayre
We’re all looking forward to our Christmas Fayre this afternoon. A huge thank you to FOSS for their hard work in organising what promises to be a lovely event. While we host many fantastic FOSS events throughout the year, the Christmas and Summer Fayres are the biggest and require a lot of organisation. I hope to see you all there and that we’ll raise lots of money to ensure our children continue to receive an exceptional education and lots of joyful experiences.

Exciting Visits & Awards
Next week, we’re excited to welcome CBeebies presenters on Wednesday. Also, I’ll be attending the UK School Trips Awards in London on Friday to find out if we have won! Our Year 4 London residential has been shortlisted. Even if we don’t win, I’m so proud of the recognition our school has received for its outstanding trips and residential programme, which offers incredible personal development opportunities for our pupils.

Parking Reminder
Unfortunately, I’ve received some complaints from local residents about parking. Please ensure you park safely and respect our neighbors.

Medication Reminder
Lastly, please remember not to send any medication in your child’s bag. All medicines should be given to the office along with the appropriate form for us to administer it. If you’re unsure, Mrs. Howe and Mrs. Sharpe are wonderful and can help you with the correct forms for this and for requesting absence and inhalers too. Where would we be without them?

The weather forecast looks like it will be a good weekend to stay inside, get cosy and read a book. I hope you all have a wonderful and restful weekend.

Very best wishes to you all,

Caroline
