New teacher appointment

Following two days of interviews last week, we were delighted to appoint a new teacher to our team for September.

We are now in the process of finalising the classteachers for next year. We’ll let you know as soon as this is done.

National Reading Champions Competition: South West Regional heat

Two teams from Year 6 took part in this competition on Tuesday. Battling against 26 other teams from all over the South West – mostly of older children – Southill fought valiantly to answer questions on children’s literature past and present in a range of question formats.

When the results came in we were delighted to learn that one team had come 5th, and another had come 3rd overall! A fantastic achievement for the children and a testament to the fabulous reading culture at Southill and the support offered by parents. We are really proud of them all. Well done!

FOSS news

Although lovely FOSS have been waiting patiently for the covid restrictions to relax, they were still able to organise Christmas giftbags and the Easter Egg Hunt for the children to enjoy. Now that we will soon be able to mix our children more widely than before, it’s full steam ahead for the Summer BBQ! More details will be sent to you soon from FOSS themselves. I’m really grateful to them for being so keen to make this happen. The children will love it.

Half term

A reminder that half term is coming up: Monday 31st May – Friday 4th June. School reopens on Monday 7th June and the last day of term will be Wednesday 21st July.
