Another week of home learning has passed and yet again I have been blown away by the fantastic effort year 1 and their parents have been putting into the home learning activities.
This week in English we have been looking at a new story called ‘Sayeeda the Pirate Princess’, answering retrieval questions about the story, creating our own pirate fact cards and writing speech bubbles to go with our characters. We ave also been designing and making our own treasure chests which looked fantastic!
In Maths we have been focusing on splitting 2 digit numbers into ‘tens’; and ‘ones’. A really important skill that we will continue to look at throughout year 1 and into year 2. Initially this seemed at bit tricky as lots of us don’t have specific maths resources at home. However, I can see from the pictures that you have been sending in that people have been getting creative – using toys, pasta, blocks and many more objects from around you homes. These will have undoubtedly supported the learning and helped develop understanding of the ‘tens’ and ‘ones’ concept – so an enormous thank you to all of the grown ups at home for going that extra mile!
Below you can see just some of the different home learning pictures that have been sent to me this week. Please keep sending these pictures in on Google Classroom – I have loved seeing what everyone has been doing at home!
Thanks again for your continued support and key workers for all that you are doing to support our community.
Happy Friday everyone!!
