KS1 Harvest Festival

The day finally dawned – when KS1 children could finally put on a show for their parents in school! It’s been a while… (October 2019 was the last time we took part in a Harvest Festival).

This event was well worth waiting for! After a welcome to the packed hall from yours truly, our Harvest Festival kicked off with two poems from our fabulous Reception class. Using actions as well as words, the class were clear, confident and loud. After only a few weeks of school, it was great to see how well they’d settled.

Year 1 performed ‘Cauliflower’s Fluffy’ – a Harvest Festival favourite – with impressive vim and vigour. They showed us some great moves as they performed the song. It was great fun to watch.

Then it was the turn of Year 2 who performed a group poem punctuated by amazing facts about apples! Great Britain sure does eat a lot of apples every year (you’ll have to ask Year 2 if you want to know exactly how many.) Their poem was clear and enjoyable to watch. They had done very well to memorise the poem and to say it together.

The Rev Matt talked to us all about the importance of different crops that help go into our breakfasts and helped us think about why we should be grateful for them all.

The Harvest Festival then concluded with that great Southill classic – Harvest Rock and Roll. Year 2 led the way but everyone was able to join in. A marvellous fantastic finish to our festival.

Thank you to all the parents and relatives who attended. and a giant well done to all the children who took part. Same time next year?
