Wow Year 3 – you have completely blown me away over the last few days with your kindness, resilience and overall amazingly positive attitudes! It has been a real pleasure accompanying you on your first ever residential and I feel incredibly proud of you all.
Today we started off by stripping our beds, packing our suitcases, enjoying another delicious breakfast and then we hopped in the minibus to go to Studland Beach. Despite the chilly temperatures, the children wrapped up warm and started off by taking part in a ‘Studland Shells Scavenger Hunt’ along the beach. The children found a variety of shells including razor shells, edibles cockles and slipper shells. They then ventured through the sand dunes and played a game of BINGO whilst learning facts and lots of new vocabulary about the plants and animals living amongst the dunes. After a quick snack and few running races we made our way back to Leeson House. We then did some final packing and enjoyed a well-deserved lunch break before it was time to make the journey home!
It’s hard to break down each individual thing the children have learned because there has been so many learning opportunties, from not only the amazing activities on offer at Leeson House itself (pond dipping, teams games, night orienteering, animal tracking, shells of Studland scavenger hunt and many more!) but also the life skills gained such as: organising their suitcases, making sure they had enough layers on to keep themselves warm, supporting each other and simply stepping out of their comfort zones in which they have all completely excelled in!
I know they will all have lots of amazing memories which they can now treasure forever and I have no doubt they will love sharing their favourite parts of the trip with you over the weekend.
I hope they all enjoy a nice hot bath and plenty of rest so we can enjoy our last week of the term together before the Christmas break!
Lastly, thank you to Mrs Walkinshaw, Mrs Wood and Mr Mason – what a trip 🙂
See you Monday Year 3 (and don’t forget to catch up on your advent calendars – I know they have been missed!)
