Last week in our PE lessons, we began our term of Outdoor Athletics Skills! We started with a lesson on running and how to use our arms and muscles to our advantage to speed up our running and sprinting.
This week we progressed on to jumping! We have used similar muscles, yet in a different way to push ourselves as high as we can into the air! We worked on our hop[ping and skipping, then we used the mini hurdles to practice jumping forwards, backwards and sideways. We counted how many jumps we could do in 20 seconds, well done to Harry who jumped over 50 sideways and to all those who jumped over 30 times in 20 seconds!
We then took part in a relay race to develop our timed jumps and have a little competition against each other.
We finished with some mini hurdles runs to put all of our skills together!
It was really great fun and so lovely to see the reciprocity and encouragement amongst everyone as jumping from standing and under timed pressure is not easy!
I enjoyed this lesson although it was really hot it was soooooooooooooooo fun.
I loved that lesson 🙂
