We have loved beginning our new art project this week focusing on line, light, shadows and how we can create them alter them and use them to design some of our own imagesĀ in black and white.
We began by exploring line and seeing if we could create and image without lifting our pencil from the paper! This was tricky, but we were really resilient and have drawn some great animals. Have a look also at our Pablo Picasso inspired line drawings using a continuous line, we tried hard to use his style and skill to create some of our own pieces.
We then moved onto different shading techniques and have practised some smudging, cross-hatching, contour lines and stippling. We then used our knowledge of shading to create 3d form using pen and ink. We used our pens to draw clear outlines of a shape and begin the shading, we then used the ink to fill in the light and dark and really bring our objects to life off the paper – what do you think of our images?!
To finish off this week, we have moved onto photography as a different media and have used black and white filters to take photos of our own still-life compositions. We loved the effect it gave and how well the lines and shadows were clearly shown through the filter.
