This week Year 1 we have been really busy settling into a new routine. We have started having phonics, maths and English lessons everyday and we have been working really hard to remember allĀ the important transition skills that we learnt in Reception.
This week was also the start of our focus on Roger Hargreaves as our Author of the Month. We have been reading lots of Mr Men and Little Miss books, sharing our ideas and even redesigning a new front cover for one of our favourites – Mr Jelly and the Pirates. Next week we will be focusing on Little Miss Inventor, so it is a great time to start thinking about something you would like to create!
In Science we have been thinking about the change in seasons, and have started to add some of our ideas about ‘Autumn’ onto our seasons wheel. There is a picture above of some of our ideas so far.
What a great end to the week – we have had a brilliant ‘Roald Dahl’ day! The children loved showing off their costumes in our fashion show, listening to some of the tricks that Mr and Mrs Twit have played on one another and even created their own BFG pictures which were displayed in the Year 1 art gallery.
An amazing first full week back at school Year 1 – Well done!!
What a great week for year 1.
OMG Nancy you look so different
