Living it up in London – Day One

Livin’ it up in London – Day One

It has been an action-packed first day here in London. After a smooth departure from school, the children chatted excitedly about the adventures ahead. We stopped at Fleet Services on the way up to stretch our legs and have a bite to eat before then making our way to London.

We had a very smooth journey up to London and therefore had time to take a slight detour to Buckingham Palace. The children watched the royal guards patrolling outside the palace. We then had a competition to see who could remain as still as the King’s soldiers. As we know, Year 4 find it difficult to stand still, but we still managed to find some new recruits for the King!

Grabbing our bags, we then made our way to see WICKED the Musical. It did not disappoint. What a SHOW! The children absolutely loved the production, especially after we read ‘The Wizard of Oz’ back at school last half term. We were even lucky enough to speak to one of the actors (The Tin Man) after the show.

The coach then collected us from outside the theatre and took us to our Hostel. After putting our bits and bobs into our rooms, the children then ventured downstairs for a delicious dinner.

We were so impressed with the children’s behaviour that we even went out for an evening stroll to take in some of the incredible sights that London has to offer. We saw St Paul’s Cathedral, walked over the Millennium Bridge and admired some of the incredible buildings that run either side of the River Thames.

The children are now all in their pyjamas, lying in bed and chatting quietly about the incredible first day they have all had in London!
