Mad about MATHS GAMES!
In order to see just how much children know about place value, we played a little game this week which you are welcome to play at home (all you need is a dice and something to write on).
The children were required to roll a dice and they had to put the digit they had rolled into one of the place value columns we’ve been learning about below…
Round 1 – Make the largest number possible
Round 2 – Make the smallest number possible
Round 3- Make the largest even number possible
Round 4- Make the smallest odd number possible
Final Round- How close can you get to the target number – 44,444
In order to gain bonus points, children were asked what the value of digits were depending on what column they were putting it in. They also got a point for being able to say the number verbally.
A very enjoyable lesson. I wonder if you can beat Mum, Dad, Granny, Grandad or your Goldfish at this game…?
