This afternoon, Year 6 worked incredibly hard to create their own model of the heart.
We started off by recapping the key parts of the heart which we previously identified in our heart dissection! We were able to identify the pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein, aorta, vena cava and the four chambers. We then looked at various pictures of models of the heart – each one had used a different material to create the model but still contained the key elements of the heart. Then, we watched a video which demonstrated how we would use clay to create our own model heart. Using an outline of the heart, we were able to mould the clay into the correct shape. Carefully, we built the main body of the heart by adding small bits of clay together. We then used our fingers to smooth the clay and create finer details on our models.
Well done, Year 6!
