Nails Soup is a great example of a cumulative story. A story where there is lots of repetition. The main character keeps saying the same thing over and over again as new things happen in the story.
We are going to use Nail Soup to learn how to write a cumulative story, and our first lesson was today. We were ‘hooked’ into the story by some storytelling from Mr Price and then we used the story map to help us learn the rhythms, patterns and vocabulary of the story. We followed this up by having a go at storytelling ourselves.
If you open up the file linked below, you will be able to see the story map so that you can practice it at home.
