Well done and congratulations to the Netball Team who played in the Budmouth Bee Rally Netball tournament today and came home Small Schools Winners!
The day began with a morning of Festival sessions led by Budmouth Leaders who took us through our paces in intercepting, fast feet, passing, shooting, pony steps and movement techniques and skills. We paid close attention and really took on board how to develop our skills. It was lovely to be led by so many ex-Southill pupils in these sessions as well!
After a quick lunch, we were straight into the tournament. We played our first game against Beechcroft and saw a winning start with goals from Samuel and Josie in the first half. Sienna took our score higher in the second half giving us a final score of Southill 7-0 Beechcroft.
Our next game was our first against St. Johns which saw Lottie and Oliver scoring to give us a win with Southill 2-1 St John’s.
We then had a break and as the large schools competition also had some teams on a break, we popped in a quick friendly match against Wyke Regis School. Despite playing a larger team from a larger school, we stuck to our winning streak with Samuel, Sienna and Josie scoring to give us a win of Southill 6-0 Wyke Regis.
Back to the Small Schools competiton and our next two games against Beechcroft and St Johns saw us with two more wins of Southill 8-0 Beechcroft and Southill 8-0 St Johns.
What a day to be proud of Team Southill! We have worked hard in Netball Club on intercepting, marking, passing in a chain to get the ball down the court and most importantly, in shooting! It has obviously paid off as we dominated every match, kept the most possession of the ball and every single member of Southill Team scored a goal in one or more matches today!
Well done to Taylor and Lottie on their first competitive experience, holding their own and playing at an exceptional level. Imogen was a netball hero who played brilliantly in any position, but especially well in centre assisting many goals. Well done to our scoring superstar Josie who apparently does attack as well as defence with 7 of the goals today being hers! Amazing shooting as well from Samuel and Sienna who scored from wherever they stood! Well done to Oliver for fantastic scoring and intercepting, a defending superstar who made life very difficult for the opposition.
Thank you to Budmouth Academy for organising and hosting a fantastic day and to the Sports Leaders who were polite, skilled and engaged us all during the Festival Sesisons.
Well done Team Southill and keep an eye out for more Netball News with matches being arranged with local schools for the summer term where everyone at Netball club will be able to take part.
That was so fun. Go team southill!
