What an exciting day! Today was the first time our Southill Netball Team had the opportunity to visit another school and play against, and with, other schools in 2 years!
We were invited by Budmouth Sports Leaders to participate in a Netball Sporting Event at their school, learning skills and playing some games, so obviously Southill jumped at the chance and took a few of the Netball Club along to take part.
To begin with, we were led in a giant warm up involving high knees, back kicks, lunges and Chicken Shoos! We were then split into groups and did a rotation of activities lead by the Budmouth pupils. They taught us new skills, how to play official positions in a match, passing practice drills, attack and defence techniques and shooting tricks.
The afternoon then finished with a rotation of games in our new teams against the others. Southill pupils definitely held their own against the other teams, sometimes including some of our own players!
Well done to Danny, Beau, Lexi and Florence who all scored goals in their games and to Danny, Beau and Lexi who were members of the overall winning teams!
We are really proud of the resilience of the group today as this was the first time we have had an event like this with other schools in 2 years and it was quite daunting. Yet our Netball team had a lot of fun, learnt new techniques and tactics and are ready to face their first opponents as a complete team this Friday in our friendly match against Atlantic Academy.
