A new term meant the start of a new topic in Year 4 this week! As part of our project ‘Blue Abyss’, we sorted and grouped a variety of living things using various strategies – considering diets, the ocean(s) they can be found in and more!
In English, we have enjoyed learning our new model text ‘Zelda Claw and the Rain Cat’. We considered what makes an effective story opening by looking at a variety of texts and discovered that many stories start with: an introduction to a character/characters, a setting, an action or some dialogue. As our new text is set during a thunderstorm, we began the week by considering contrasting descriptions of a thunderstorm and used drama to bring these to life.
The text map was sent home this week so that you can continue to practise the story. A link can also be found here: Zelda Claw Text Map
Thursday saw the first of this term’s book reviews – thank you and well done to those who presented! We thoroughly enjoyed listening to your thoughts and recommendations.
We ended the week with our first cricket lesson outdoors in the sunshine…
Well done for all of your hard work this week Year 4! Have a great weekend everyone.
