We’ve had a fantastic start to Arts Week here in Year 1. The theme this year is ‘Light’ and how it plays an important role in various art forms. We arranged for Jude Alderman to come in and visit the class. Jude is a stained glass artist and has been working as a professional artist for 30 years. She kindly agreed to come and share her work with the children this afternoon. The children asked lots of relevant questions about being an artist and were interested to hear about the processes of how it is produced.
Jude kindly bought a selection of her work in so that the children really got a sense of what it was all about. They were able to view the pieces on light boxes and really see how important light is to the artform.
The children then had time to experiment with making their own designs using coloured cellophane. There were numerous creations which got more elaborate as the afternoon went on! Nothing was glued down today so designs could be recreated over and over again! A super afternoon – Well done Year 1!
What a great experience for the children, brilliant job year 1.
Arthur has really enjoyed this week. He has been telling us all about it each day🎨🖌️
