This week in year 1 we have continued with our history learning as part of our Childhood topic.

Thankyou to everyone who shared their pictures at the begining of the week to be discussed in our class assemblies on Tuesday and Wednesday, it was lovely to see the photos that were sent in and listen to the children sharing their special events and experiences.

A key part of our history learning in year 1 is to understand that some events have an impact on lots of people all around the world, such as Queen Elizabeth’s funeral or the start of a new year. But some events are important to a much smaller groups of people such as us and our families. These could be events such as weddings or different religious celebrations, birthdays and new family memebers being born.

Another big part of our history learning is to start linking time vocabualrly to events both in our lives and before we were born. We have been looking at timelines, ordering events in chronologoical order and started to use key vocab such as last week, last year, a long time ago, now, the future etc.
