A Spectacular Finale: Our Last Day in London
Today marked the grand finale of our London adventure, and it began with a gentle nudge to wake the children who, for once, had slept in after two action-packed days. With beds stripped and cases packed, they descended upon yet another delicious breakfast, fueling up for the day ahead.
Our final destination was the majestic St Paul’s Cathedral, just a short stroll away. Guided by the captivating Veronica, we embarked on a tour that ignited the children’s imaginations. Here are just a few highlights from our enlightening visit:
- Designed by the legendary Sir Christopher Wren.
- Crafted primarily from the timeless elegance of Portland stone.
- A setting for cinematic masterpieces like Paddington 2 and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
- A symbol of resilience, protected feverishly during World War Two by brave soldiers and volunteers who fought to save it from destruction.
Ascending the cathedral’s heights, the children explored the Whispering, Stone, and Golden Galleries, some daring to climb all three floors. The reward? A breathtaking panoramic view of London, earned after what felt like a million steps. It was a fittingly memorable end to our remarkable residential journey.
Reflecting on our time together, I am bursting with pride. The children’s impeccable manners, kindness, and organisation have left us all in awe. They’ve exuded maturity and positivity throughout, making every moment a joy. As their teacher, I am truly privileged to witness their growth and unbelievably proud of each and every one of them!
As we bid farewell to London, I wish everyone a delightful bank holiday weekend. And to our incredible children…thank you for filling these days with unforgettable memories.
