Poetry – A Prisoner Wishes
This week, the children have been perfecting their poetry. We began by reading the poem ‘A Prisoner Wishes’ by Pie Corbett and unpicking the key tools required to write a similar poem. We identified that each stanza describes the sounds, smells, sounds, sights and things we would miss feeling if we were to be a prisoner. It is a very emotive poem and the children packed their own poems with expanded noun phrases, personification, alliteration and impressive vocabulary.
Due to SATs, the children have also had to cope with being in various rooms around the school and they have been incredibly sensible, mature and focused despite the disruption. Well done, Year 4!
