Today we have been celebrating Poetry day in Year 1!

Mrs Jones very kindly bought into school her special poetry book which fits in perfectly with our outdoor themed learning this half term.

The book ‘I am the seed that grew the tree’ has a poem for everyday of the year!! Today we learnt a poem called ‘The leaves are Green’. We talked about why the leaves change colour as the seasons change, and linked this back to our learning earlier this week where we had looked at different tree leaves and their seeds.

After practicing our poem and learning it off by heart we had a go at writing it as a whole class and then presenting in it in the middle of an Autumn leaf wreath.
