What can I say except we have had another brilliant week in year 3! The week started off with the children finding a scene had been made in their grassy reading area. A comfy chair, with a pair of spectacles and information books scattered about and standing next to the scene a bottle with a drawing of a real heart on it. The children asked lots of questions and from what they could see came up with ideas as to who the person could be who uses the chair. Some thought it was an older person because the spectacles had string attached so the wearer didn’t lose them. Others thought it may be a younger person as the scattered book were mainly aimed at children. Eventually the children found out that the book we are using to inspire writing in the class is ‘The heart and the bottle’ by Oliver Jeffers.
The children also had a fun-filled afternoon painting and varnishing their Mexican inspired cactus sculptures. Which were very colourful and bright.
Michael Rosen also made an appearance in our class this week via an online event for Michael Rosen Day. We joined in with the actions to his poetry and heard about some aspects of his life. The children recognised some of the books that he has written and Robyn even brought in ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ from home. I think one of the favourite poems we heard was ‘No breathing’ about a mean teacher who didn’t let her class breathe except at play time and lunch time!
Wishing you all a very safe, happy and relaxing weekend and I look forward to another fun filled week next week which includes our educational visit to Stonehenge!

Wow, sounds like a jam packed week for year 3! Chloe came home excited to tell me that they had double maths one day! Seems like that would be her dream school day 😆
