Science Investigation and Rat Catchers!

Dear parents and carers,

Year 3 have had another busy week.  We have continued with our writing linked to the book The Pied Piper of Hamelin and the children have begun writing wanted posters in order to try to find someone suitable who could catch and get rid of a huge mischief of rats.  Hopefully we can put up pictures next week of their fantastic wanted posters, once they are complete.

In Science we have begun the unit Forces and Magnets.  We have discussed the forces of push and pull and next week will be looking into the force of gravity and using magnets and the force within them to investigate which materials can be picked up by magnets.

The photos with the week’s blog show how we looked into moving an object using the same force on different surfaces.  The majority of children predicted that the table would be a smoother surface for the protractor to move along, however, we were surprised that the carpet in class had a smoother surface and sent the protractor a lot further!

Some children in the class also had their first swimming lesson with school and showed great resilience, keenness and attitude, so well done to all of you who took part.

Wishing you a happy, safe and restful weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Andrea
