Sea Birds

Today we have been learning the skills needed for observational drawings. We started by looking carefully at photographs of sea birds. We talked about colours, shapes, features and patterns. We had a first try at drawing what we could see altogether. Then, we each drew our favourite sea bird. We started by drawing the outline shape, then added a beak, legs, feathers and patterns. We finished them by choosing and adding colours carefully. We are learning the names of sea birds too. Here we are in action.

Here are all of our beautiful observational drawings. Look out for shelducks, guillemots, sandpipers, puffins, kittiwakes, cormorants, gannets, terns, oyster catchers, redshank, avocets and gulls!

These are the photographs we observed to help us with our drawings.

We are having a great time this week learning about rockpool creatures, seabirds, starfish and seashore creatures.
