Shootin’ Hoops!

This afternoon, Year 6 made the trek to the top of Porland as they embarked on an afternoon filled with basketball! The children were split up into smaller groups, mixing with other schools and began the afternoon by taking part in a wide range of skills and drills in order to develop their confidence in the sport. The drills focused on:

-Shooting

-Passing

-Dribbling

-Attack vs defense

To conclude the afternoon, the children staying in their mixed teams and played half-court basketball against one another and, I must say, Southill students stood out a mile off. They demonstrated leadership qualities throughout the games and worked incredibly hard for their teams.

In January, the children will play in a tournament against the other schools and I for one cannot wait after what I witnessed today!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Linaker and Mrs. Wallis for kindly helping to transport the children to Atlantic Academy. Thank you to Atlantic for hosting such an epic afternoon of basketball. Finally, thank you to the 9 children chosen to represent Southill School today. You were incredible!
