Sketching Our Surroundings in the Sunshine!
After a rather dreary and dismal week last week (weather wise) it was lovely getting out into the sunshine to soak in some much needed vitamin D!
In lockdown, we started learn about Conrad Martens who accompanied Darwin on the HMS Beagle as they sailed around the world. His job was to sketch places, people, animals and objects in order to document the voyage through art.
Today, with clip-boards, sketchbooks and pencils at hand, the children were required to sit in the sunshine and produce an observational drawing of a tree in the Southill school grounds. They needed to pay close attention to the shape of the tree and the size of their drawing on their sketchbooks.
A lovely end to the afternoon! I am sure we will have time to finish our sketches at some point this week.
Wills spoke lots about this when he got home, looks like a dreamy afternoon. He was so happy! Thank you for inspiring 🙂
I think that there were 16,000 pictures of me??!!😂😂
I love sketching especially in the sun.
