Southill Girls Stun Chickerell
Today, Southill Girls played Chickerell in a football match after school. The team lost their last match against Chickerell during the tournament in October and the team were keen to win!
Southill were dominant in the first half. The team really worked hard for one another and played some excellent football. After an excellent tackle and through ball in midfield, our striker was able to slot it into the bottom corner making it 1-0 at half time.
Chickerell really tested us in the second half, however Southill stayed strong. They defended for their lives and our goalkeeper played incredibly! In the end, we managed to keep a clean sheet meaning that the score ended 1-0 to the mighty Southill.
Seeing just how far the team have developed over the past few months is just brilliant. I cast my mind back to when we began girls football club and how the children would all simply run after the ball like headless chickens! Now however, their understanding of where they need to be on the pitch and their ability to pass and dribble the ball astounds me.
One very proud teacher/coach. Well done, Southill!
