Southill Triumphs at the BEE Netball Rally!
The sun was shining, but the wind was strong as Southill eagerly stepped onto the court for their biggest competition of the year—the BEE Netball Rally. A total of 15 primary schools from Weymouth, Portland, and Dorchester competed in a fierce contest.
The morning began with skills and drills led by Budmouth pupils, putting us through our paces. It was fantastic to see former Southill students—Kyeisha, Imogen, Sophie, Milly, and Amelie—leading the sessions. After a well-earned lunch, we were ready for the tournament! Here’s how we got on…

As you can see, Southill dominated the small schools category, winning every single game! The children played incredibly well, passing with confidence and fluency up the court and taking their chances with precision and flare. With only eight minutes to secure a victory in each match, their consistent wins showcased what an outstanding team they are.
In the semi-finals, we faced Holy Trinity—a three-form entry school that had finished second in the big schools group. Thanks to goals from Olivia and Max, we triumphed 2-1, earning our place in the final! Out of 15 primary schools, plucky little Southill had made it to the finals.
The final saw us go up against St. Osmund’s, a very large school with an exceptional netball team. Unfortunately, St Osmunds overpowered us, securing a 4-0 win. Despite the loss, I am incredibly proud of our team—not only for winning the Small Schools Cup but also for competing against much larger schools with such confidence and determination. We were close to winning both trophies!
A huge thank you to Erin for kindly helping transport the children to Budmouth, to Mrs. Bugler and the Budmouth sports leaders for organizing a fantastic event, and to our amazing team for battling the strong winds and reclaiming what is rightfully yours!
I really enjoyed it well done!
