Southill vs Bincombe Valley
After school today, the Southill Girls played their very first football match against Bincombe Valley. The girls were very excited to represent the white and blue colours of Southill in their very first match of the season.
The girls began the game very confidently. Dribbling into space and passing to feet and, before long, we managed to score in the opening 10 minutes. The final few moments before half time saw Bincombe come back into the game. However, thanks to a string of great saves from our goalkeeper, the team went into half time 1-0 up.
After a swift drink and a half-time team talk, the girls were back out on the pitch ready and raring to go. Despite a confident start, Bincombe slid a beautiful through ball behind the defence and it ended up 1-1. The team gritted their teeth and showed great resilience, pouncing on a loose pass in defence which result in another great goal for Southill.
Despite a nervy final few minutes, the team defended admirably and the final score at full time ended in 2-1 to TEAM SOUTHILL!
The girls did so well today and I am proud of their resilience and reciprocity.
A huge thank you to Mr. Frampton for some great action shots and to everybody who came and cheered the team on today. We really value your support.
