Southill vs Chickerell

Southill vs Chickerell

Despite the iffy weather, both Southill and Chickerell were keen to still participate in a friendly football match after school today.

Southill began the match very confidently, keeping the ball on the floor and playing some clever two-touch passes all around the pitch. Ten-minutes in, a fantastic through ball from our midfield results in a composed finish in the bottom corner giving Southill an early lead. Chickerell responded well to this. Although our goalkeeper made some outstanding saves and our defenders tackled and blocked with bravery, Chickerell scored a well-deserved goal after heavy pressure making it 1-1 at half-time.

For the first 10 minutes of the second half, Southill played very well. We a few early chances, however we unable to capitalise. Then, a carefully constructed goal by Chickerell meant that the score was 2-1 to Chickerell with 15 minutes to go. Unfortunately, Southill grew lethargic in the second half, heads began to drop and the pitch became difficult to play on meaning that Chickerell soon found their rhythm and score 4 more goals in the second half making the final score:

With the Nash Cup around the corner, it was a valuable lesson for the boys today. It’s important to be resilient and work together until the final whistle. I am sure with our next match on the horizon, Southill will be able to bounce back and get back to winning ways in our next game.

A huge thank you to parents and grandparents for helping to transport the children over to Chickerell. As always, we really value your support!
