Staying Safe Online

Today, Year 5 and 6 were visited by Stuart Hanns, a member of the Safer Schools Team, who came to talk to the children about staying safe online. This visit tied in perfectly with our PSHE and Computing lessons about online safety. Stuart’s session was all about how we can use the internet responsibly while having fun and staying safe.

Stuart covered some of the most popular online platforms that many of us know and use, like Fortnite, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok. He explained how we should think carefully about how we communicate with others on these platforms and the importance of being kind and respectful. We also learned about the rules and age limits for these platforms, and why they’re there to protect us.

Another important topic Stuart discussed was password safety – he gave us some great tips for creating strong passwords and reminded us never to share them. It was a really helpful session with lots of real-life examples that got us all thinking.

A big thank you to Stuart for helping us feel more confident about how to navigate the online world safely and sensibly!
