Tag Rugby Competition
This afternoon, 10 children from Year 6 had an incredible opportunity to attend a tag rugby festival/tournament at Budmouth Academy. The aim of the afternoon was to give children an insight into how the game is played and, of course, to have lots of fun.
It is safe to say that the weather was hot. Really hot. Unbelievably hot! Nevertheless, the children participated in six activities in total which were designed to help them develop their knowledge and understanding of the game. The activities centered around: keeping possession, tackling, passing, scoring a try and working together as a team in order to make it difficult for the opponent to score.
In the final hour of the afternoon, the children then participated in some matches against the other schools who attended the event. Here is how we got on…
Southill 4 – 4 Conifers
Southill 5 – 5 Atlantic
Southill 7 – 3 Radipole
The children played incredibly well despite the sweltering temperatures and we remained undefeated the entire afternoon, scoring a number of incredible tries! A huge thank you to the Budmouth sports leaders who led the sessions and refereed the matches. I would also like to say a huge thank you to the Southill pupils who came with me this afternoon. They were both resilient and reciprocal which resulted in a really enjoyable afternoon of rugby.
