Tag Rugby Festival
The sun decided to make an appearance just in time for our trip to Budmouth this afternoon. Ten Year 6 pupils were chosen to participate in a Tag Rugby Festival led by Year 7’s.
To begin with, children played a variety of games, skills and drills in order to develop their ability to:
-
Run with the ball
-
Pass the ball using the correct technique
-
Grab tags in order to stop the opposition
-
pass backwards to their teammates
-
Score a try
-
Work together as a team
After learning about the game, the children then entered a friendly competition against some of the other schools who also attended. Here are the results.
Southill 3 – 3 St Johns
Southill 1 – 2 St Augustine’s
Southill 5 – 0 Conifers
I must say, the children represented Southill School brilliantly. It was great seeing them enjoy themselves and be out in the sunshine, especially after a difficult week of tricky tests last week. Well done, TEAM SOUTHILL!
A huge thank you to Mr. Matthews, Mr. Bugler, Mr. Thorne and Mr. Mason for kindly helping to transport the children over to Budmouth.
