Tennis Triumph: Another Trophy for Southill Primary!
This afternoon, eight talented children from Years 5 and 6 proudly represented Southill Primary School in an exciting tennis tournament at the Wey Valley Tennis Centre. Our squad was a fantastic mix of seasoned players and enthusiastic newcomers, all eager and confident to take on six other primary schools from across Weymouth.
The children were divided into two teams of four, with mixed pairs taking turns to compete against different opponents. Their scores were then combined to determine their overall team performance.
Southill B: This team put up a valiant performance throughout the afternoon, showing tremendous improvement in their serving, rallying, and volleying with every match. It was incredible to watch them grow stronger and more strategic as the tournament progressed. In total, Southill B played eight matches and impressively secured victory in four of them! They even came incredibly close to toppling the Southill A team in a thrilling, nail-biting contest. Their determination, sportsmanship, and teamwork were truly commendable!
Southill A: What can we say? They were simply unstoppable! Southill A played eight matches and won every…single…game! Despite having never played together as pairs before, they displayed natural chemistry, seamlessly working together to overcome challenging matches and dominating others with confidence. Their skill, focus, and composure were second to none.
What made this victory even sweeter? The toughest challenge Southill A faced came from none other than our very own Southill B! It was a proud moment to see both teams pushing each other to new heights.
At the end of an action-packed afternoon, Southill Primary was awarded a beautiful trophy to add to our growing collection. Spirits were high as we left the tennis centre, celebrating yet another incredible sporting achievement for our school.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Wallis for kindly accompanying the children to Wey Valley during lunchtime, to the Wey Valley sports leaders for their brilliant officiating, and to Mr. Upton from Bincombe Valley for organising such a fantastic event.
Well done, Southill Primary—what a smashing success!
