The Art of Potion Making
‘Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.’
We’ve been brewing up a storm in Year Three today. Linked to our work on Macbeth, the children designed and created their very own potions. They had to think of a cool name and what their potion might actually do. Would it help people or does it do something devilish to the drinker! Here are some of the ideas that the children came up with:
The Potion of Godly Powers
Tonic of Victory
The Flying Potion
Draught of the Dragon
The Brew of Night Vision
The Potion of Dreams
The children also had to write a set of instructions on how to brew their concoctions. It’s fair to say we had a blast today (and that’s just the adults).
Below are some photos of the witches and wizards hard at work.
