This week we have been learning about the Jurassic Coast. Much to Year 1’s disappointment, The Jurassic CoastĀ isn’t a dinosaur themed theme park however the discovery of some of the world’s first fossils and a sea monster soon had them interested again!
We have been looking more specifically at Mary Anning who was, and still is, famous for discovering some of the first ever fossils at Lyme Regis many years ago. We talked about how the rock has formed over millions of years and how the sea washes bits away over time, making the Jurassic Coast a fantastic place to find all sorts of amazing fossils from the Jurassic Era!
We even had a go at sketching some real life fossils and making one of our own using salt dough.
Another great week year 1 – keep it up!
