Surely the 1940s couldn’t have been this much fun?! After a game of Scrabble, a boisterous round of bagatelle and some friendly competition involving tiddly winks, it was time to say ‘grace’ and tuck into a delicious wartime tea prepared for us by the amazing Mrs Aitken. Marmite sandwiches, spam sandwiches, biscuits, cake and Smiths ‘Salt & Shake’ crisps all washed down with some traditional cloudy lemonade… absolutely delicious! In the background Vera Lynn reminded us that we’ll all meet again on Monday when Mrs Vera Clark, who was a young girl in Weymouth during the Blitz, will visit Year 6 to tell the children first hand what it was really like to live through those turbulent times.
All that food looks sooo yummy! Hope you had a great time Year 6!
