This week Year 3 have produced some beautiful works of watercolour art. First they looked at the difference between watercolours and acrylics and used both to create gradient shades. They added water to the watercolours to make it lighter and white paint to the acrylic to make it a lighter shade. They also looked at the illustrator Maria Sibylla Merian, who is best known for her publication of drawings documenting the natural world of Suriname. They used watercolours to build up shades of the same colour, working from the lightest to the darkest.
