We had a WICKED time in Winchester!
It’s been an action-packed conclusion to our very first topic ‘Playlist’. Not only did we have a disco, not only did we get the chance to make our own musical instruments, but we also crammed in a trip to Winchester Science Centre as well!
Today, the children participated in a workshop all about sound. It’s difficult to summarise the amount of learning that took place today. We learnt all about:
-decibel readings
-sounds that children can hear but adults cannot
-phantom hearing
-how sound travels differently through solids, liquids and gasses.
-High pitch and low pitch sounds
The children also discovered how our ears work and how it’s sometimes difficult to identify where a sound is coming from due to the position of our ears on our heads. We also had the chance to explore the awesome interactive exhibits around the museum and visit the Planetarium for a swift trip around space.
A huge thank you to all the staff who came today for ensuring that the children had an incredible time. Finally, thank you to all of the children in Years 4 and 5 for representing Southill School admirably.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience and one that the children will not forget in a hurry. Enjoy the pictures…
