Week 8 Forest School – Bubble and water fun

A rainbow hunt started us off this week.  We had 10 minutes to collect rainbow colours from nature. As the children pointed out, this was also art (linking to Art’s Week) and also linked in with Pride month.

Then we learnt about how animals use bubbles in nature; from the amazing water spider that uses an air bubble to stay under water for the whole day like a scuba diver, to and insect called a froghopper , that creates ‘cuckoo spit’ to keep both them and the plant they live on moist.  Their protects them from predictors and also keep their food nice.  We then had a go at making huge bubble using the bubble wands we made.  It was tricky, but we persevered.  They were huge!!

Some of us investigated the newly filled up pond whilst others went into the wood to keep cool in the shade.  Here sticks were whittled once again and a woodland muddy kitchen was opened!  To finish off with, we discussed some safety rules and how we could make it fair to share the water sprinkler – a perfect way to cool down on a scorching afternoon.  They all were very active when running about and all shred in and caring and courteous way.  Brilliant team work Forest Schoolers.
