What a fantastic first day back we have had in Year 6! It has been so lovely to see all the children coming into school smiling and I am really proud of how quickly they have settled into their new classroom.
This morning, we discussed our rights and responsibilities as a Year 6 pupil which helped us create our class charter. We also spent some time creating our ‘About Me’ bunting which we will decorate the classroom with! This was also a great opportunity for me to get to get to know the pupils a little more. Just before lunch, we started our new class novel Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston where we were introduced to the protagonist Amari who had just received a mysterious delivery from her ‘missing’ brother!
We then spent the afternoon kickstarting one of our projects ‘Tints, Tones and Shades’, and had a go at using a range of techniques to create different shades, tones and tints in our sketchbooks. This required a fair bit of resilience and focus and Year 6 took to the challenge brilliantly.
Thank you Year 6 for a wonderful first day back and I am looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow!
