Well done Year 3!

I am so proud of my class this half term.  They have truly risen to the challenges and expectations that I ask of them each day.  One of our main focuses is writing, and the children are really trying to slow down, form letters correctly and endeavour to join the letters too.  They have been fully engaged in our writing unit about Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in 79AD and this week have become journalists, investigating what has happened, as if they were actually in Pompeii.  After half term the class will conclude their journalistic investigation and write a full article on the tragic events that unfolded almost 2000 years ago.

In Maths the class have been challenged to measure in cm, mm and metres.  It can be quite tricky as mm are such a small measurement but they are all doing their best and comparing answers with each other.  They have been using metre sticks to measure classroom items and each other!  We will be continuing this after half term.

After half term we will be starting our history unit on Ancient Egypt where the children will be visited by Neil the time traveller for the day!

It has been a wonderful half term and I am really looking forward to next half term!

Have a wonderful, safe and restful week off and I look forward to seeing you all on the 24th.

Chloe’s really enjoyed learning about Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, sharing all the facts she remembers when she gets home. She’s also been loving maths this half-term – excited to measure, test, and even start a new maths book! 😆
Hope everyone has a lovely half term!
