We have been working very hard over the past couple of weeks to learn our model information text ‘The Weymouth Water Dragon’. Alongside this, we have identified and learnt about its key features, including:
- generalisers to make the text flow (for example, ‘most’ or ‘the majority of’)
- sentence signposts to engage the reader (such as, ‘Surprisingly…’)
- conjunctions to add detail and description
- organisational features (including a title and subheadings for different sections)
Next week, we will be applying this learning to innovate our own texts which inform readers of a different type of dragon! Who knows what mysterious creatures we are yet to learn about…
Well done Year 2, we are so proud of your clear, confident and enthusiastic retelling of this text!
