This week, Year 3 began their new writing unit that focuses on building a tookit to help them write their very own Portal Stories. We kickstarted the term by designing our own portal doors and imagining what kind of world we would enter if we dared to step through it!

We then began learning our new model text, Elf Road and worked together to come up with our own actions to help us learn the story off by heart. (Video of Year 3 text mapping coming soon….watch this space!)

We then delved into learning new and impressive vocabulary from the text and practised using dictionaries to help find the definitions of each word. The children really impressed me with their partner work during this task, helping and listening carefully to eachother’s ideas – amazing!

What a fantastic start to the term we’ve had – well done Year 3!
