Wow! What a fantastic day Year Six have had fossil hunting on Charmouth beach!
The trip was part of our topic, ‘Darwin’s Delights’, and gave the children the opportunity to show our guide, Anna, how much they knew already about the topic. They certainly did us proud and could explain all about how fossils are formed and the different types you could find along the Jurassic Coast.
After explaining what to look for and how to find them, Anna took everyone along the beach and we all began to hunt for some 200 million year old remains!
The children uncovered some superb fossils that even managed to impress Anna, including dozens of whole ammonites, belemnites, fool’s gold and a little ichthyosaur vertebrate!
The children behaved beautifully across the whole day. Well done everyone!
That was really fun! X
