A Fantastic Start to the New Term!
What a wonderful way to kick off the new term with our first assembly! It was brilliant to see the whole school community come together to celebrate achievements both in and out of school.
We were thrilled to hear about all the amazing things our pupils have been doing outside of school. It's so important to recognise that learning and achievement happen everywhere, not just in the classroom!
A huge well done to our Lexia superstars and TT Rockstars champions who have been working hard on their literacy and maths skills. Your dedication is truly inspiring!
We also talked about being 2%ers – those people who do everything just a little bit better than they have to. It's not about being perfect, but about putting in that extra effort, showing kindness, and always trying your best. That's what makes our school community special.
Stormbreak Focus: Resilience
This week, our Stormbreak focus is resilience – a particularly important skill at this time of year when we might set ourselves new challenges and goals. Resilience is about keeping going when things get tough, bouncing back from setbacks, and not giving up even when we find something difficult. Whether it's learning a new skill, making new friends, or tackling tricky work, resilience helps us to persevere and succeed.
National Year of Reading 2026
Excitingly, we discussed the National Year of Reading and asked our pupils for their ideas about how we can celebrate reading throughout the year.
If you have any ideas about how we can make reading even more exciting at Southill Primary, please pop your suggestions in the suggestion box in the hall. We'd love to hear from pupils, parents, and staff alike.
Here's to a brilliant term ahead filled with achievement, effort, and lots of reading!
