Governors

Governing Body

The Governing Body plays an important role in the strategic leadership of Southill Primary School.

Governors work with the Headteacher and school leaders to ensure that the school provides the best possible education for every child. The Governing Body provides strategic oversight, support and challenge while holding school leaders to account for the educational and financial performance of the school.

The Governing Body's core functions are to:

  • ensure clarity of the school's vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure that money is well spent
  • ensure that the voices of pupils, parents, staff and the wider school community are considered appropriately
  • provide strategic oversight of safeguarding, SEND, attendance, curriculum and school improvement

The day-to-day management of the school is the responsibility of the Headteacher and senior leadership team.
