What is the Chesil Collaboration?
We are proud to be part of the Chesil Collaboration which is a group of local schools working closely together to share their experience and expertise, support each other and improve children's learning opportunities.
Our purpose is to enable every young person to access outstanding opportunities to learn, which we believe can be achieved by working together.
The Chesil Collaboration is a partnership of seven maintained primary schools in Weymouth and Portland, who have expressed a commitment to work together voluntarily in order to enhance opportunities for all children across the area. We are not forming or becoming part of a MAT (Multi-Academy Trust). As a group of schools, we are all proud of our independence and specific knowledge of the communities we serve – but we also recognise the strength of partnerships in respect of improving outcomes for all of our children and families in the Chesil area.
The schools in the Chesil Collaboration are:
- Bincombe Valley Primary
- Conifers Primary
- Holy Trinity Primary
- Radipole Primary
- Southill Primary
- St George's Primary
- Wyke Regis Primary Federation
What we have achieved so far:
- Established staff links across all seven schools
- Implemented shared training for staff
- Recruited a Parent Champion - Radipole, Bincombe, Southill and Conifers
- Employed an Educational Psychologist to help our children achieve their full potential
- Participated in the shared Chesil Poetry Festival
- Books and Stories with Bournemouth University
What we aim to do next:
- Expand music opportunities across the schools
- Provide further training opportunities for all staff, including Stormbreak to enhance pupils' mental health
- Work to enhance the transfer process into secondary schools
- Develop Community Responsibilities
We are committed to:
Improving opportunities for all children across the Chesil Collaboration
Inclusivity and excellence within and across our seven schools
Preparing our children for their futures beyond Weymouth and Portland
This collaboration allows us to share best practice, support one another, and ensure that every child in our community has access to the very best educational opportunities and is supported to reach their full potential.
