Bonfire Night and Fireworks!

This week in Reception, the children have been exploring the excitement of Bonfire Night and fireworks. They created wonderful bonfire pictures using natural materials and dazzling firework artwork with glitter and glue.

Our imaginative learners also worked together to design and build a zoo, carefully sectioning areas to create different homes for the animals – a fantastic display of teamwork and creativity!

Melanie has been incredibly proud of the children’s progress in both their CVC word writing and number formation this week. The children have been practising with whiteboard markers and chalks, and many have even started writing in their lined books for the first time.

At the potions table, the children mixed and created colourful concoctions, sparking lots of curiosity and conversation. As part of our emotional literacy focus, we shared the story Ravi’s Roar and discussed how it feels to be angry. The children enjoyed exploring calming strategies and making use of our cosy sensory tent to help regulate their emotions.

It’s been a wonderful week filled with creativity, collaboration, and emotional growth in Reception!
