We had a wonderful celebration assembly this week that we're excited to share with you!

Stormbreak Champions - Self-Care

This week's assembly focused on an incredibly important topic: self-care. We were delighted to celebrate our Stormbreak Champions who have been learning about the importance of looking after themselves, both physically and mentally.

Our fantastic Year 5 Wellbeing Reporters took centre stage and delivered an inspiring demonstration showing some of the simple yet effective ways we can all practice self-care. They showcased activities including:

  • Yoga - demonstrating how gentle movement and breathing can help us feel calm and centred
  • Reading - highlighting how losing ourselves in a good book can help us relax and unwind
  • Taking the dog for a walk - showing how fresh air, exercise, and spending time with our pets can boost our wellbeing

The children were brilliant ambassadors, and their enthusiasm really helped everyone understand that self-care doesn't have to be complicated - it's about finding small moments in our day to look after ourselves.

Celebrating Resilience

We also took time to celebrate children across the school who have demonstrated one of our core school values: resilience. These children have shown determination, perseverance, and a positive attitude when facing challenges. They've reminded us all that setbacks are opportunities to learn and grow, and that keeping going even when things are tough is something to be truly proud of.

Why This Matters

At Southill Primary , we believe that supporting children's wellbeing is just as important as their academic progress. By teaching children about self-care and celebrating qualities like resilience, we're helping them develop the tools they need to thrive both now and in the future.

We'd love to hear if your child has been talking about self-care at home, or if they've been inspired to try any of the activities demonstrated in assembly!
